Ubaldo Biordi, a Sammarinese politician and captain regent, died on May 2, 2026, at the age of 87.
He served two terms as one of San Marino’s joint heads of state, in 1981–1982 and again in 1985–1986. Biordi entered the Grand and General Council in 1974 as a member of the Sammarinese Communist Party and remained in the legislature for five consecutive terms, serving until 1998.
After the party’s dissolution in the early 1990s, he continued his political activity with its successor, the Sammarinese Democratic Progressive Party.
