Shaikh Idrees, a Pakistani Islamic scholar and politician who served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2002 to 2007, died on May 5, 2026, after being shot.
He was born in 1961 in Turangzai, in Charsadda District, and was also known as Muhammad Idrees. He studied at Jamia Nomania in his hometown, completed higher religious education at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, and earned M.A.
degrees in Arabic and Islamiyat from the University of Peshawar.
