Rod Miller, an American baseball player, died on November 8, 2013.
Born Rodney Carter Miller in Portland, Oregon, on January 16, 1940, he reached the major leagues as a teenager and appeared in one game for the 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers, pinch-hitting against the Philadelphia Phillies at Connie Mack Stadium. He had signed with Brooklyn after graduating from high school in Lynwood, California, and spent the 1957 season in the Class C Illinois–Indiana–Iowa League before being recalled when rosters expanded in September.
A second baseman and third baseman, he batted left-handed and threw right-handed. After three more years in the Dodgers’ farm system, he left baseball following the 1960 season and later served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He lived in Reno, Nevada, for 21 years before retiring to Cascade, Idaho, in 2009.
