Pierre-François Veil, French lawyer and civil servant and president of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah since 2023, died on May 6, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born in Clichy on March 16, 1954, he was the son of entrepreneur and politician Antoine Veil and magistrate Simone Veil. He studied at the École alsacienne, graduated from Sciences Po in 1976, and earned a master of private law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
