Nicola Salerno (sporting executive)

Nicola Salerno, Italian football sporting director and sporting executive, died on February 1, 2026.

Born on 3 August 1956, he was the son of Senator Francesco Carmelo Salerno and a former president of Matera. Salerno began his football career in Serie C2 as a sporting director from 1983–1984 to 1985–1986, later serving as sports director and market manager at Ravenna, Licata and Trieste.

He also worked as sports director of Messina from 1997 to 2002 and joined Catania in 2002–03 after a new leadership change at Messina.

Nicola Salerno (3 August 1956 – 1 February 2026) was an Italian football sporting director.
