Nick Baker, an American politician and member of the Kentucky Senate from 1970 to 1978, died on March 13, 2026.
Born Henry Nicholas Baker in Hazard, Kentucky, on April 10, 1937, he was first elected to the Senate in 1969, defeating incumbent Republican senator Vernon McGinty. He won reelection in 1973 but lost renomination in 1977 to Danny Meyer.
Baker was also known for his efforts to promote women’s basketball in Kentucky at the high school and collegiate levels.
