Shaud, an American Air Force general who served as chief of staff of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe from 1988 to 1991, died on March 13, 2026, from complications of a stroke. He was 92.

Shaud was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 15, 1933, graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, attended Lafayette College for a year, and then entered the United States Military Academy. After graduating from West Point in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

General John Albert Shaud (December 15, 1933 – March 13, 2026) was a United States Air Force four-star general who served as Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (COFS SHAPE) from 1988 to 1991.
