Douglas Armstead Shively, an American football coach and player, died on March 13, 2026, at age 88.

Shively was head coach of the Arizona Wranglers of the United States Football League in 1983, when he compiled a 4-14 record. He also served as an assistant coach in the National Football League for 19 seasons, including as defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985 and as assistant head coach for defense of the Atlanta Falcons from 1990 to 1993.

Born in Lexington, Kentucky, he later attended the University of Kentucky.

Douglas Armstead Shively (March 18, 1937 – March 13, 2026) was an American football player and coach. He was the head coach for the Arizona Wranglers of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1983, compiling an overall record of four wins and 14 losses. Shively also served as an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 19 seasons, most notably as the defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985 and as the assistant head coach for defense of the Atlanta Falcons from 1990 to 1993.
