Maurie Raper Australian footballer dead at age -1

Maurie Raper, an Australian rugby league footballer who played for Penrith and Cronulla-Sutherland, died on February 22, 2026.

He played as a five-eighth in the 1960s and 1970s in the NSWRL premiership. Raper was an inaugural Penrith player and took part in the club’s first ever game.

He joined Penrith in 1967 after playing his junior rugby league for Canterbury and Western Suburbs, and later moved to Cronulla at the end of 1970.
