Born Margaret Lensky in Leek on August 19, 1929, she became known chiefly for church music. She studied piano at the Royal College of Music from the age of 97 before turning to singing, training further at the National School of Opera in London and later in Siena and Rome.
Rizza taught singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1977 to 1994, and from 1986 she increasingly focused on community music projects and spiritual work.
