James Dear, known professionally as Luci4, was an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer, died on February 22, 2026, at age 23.
Born in Los Angeles, he began making music after getting a laptop for Christmas and started his career in 2016 under the stage name 4jay. He later founded the internet rap collective Jewelxxet and was known for pioneering the mixing style he called sigilkore, which became an internet microgenre.
He first drew wider attention in 2017 when a beat he made was used by Tay-K on “Gotta Blast,” and his 2020 single “Bodypartz” later received gold certification from the RIAA.
