Jesse Hector

Jesse Hector, the English musician fronting the rock group The Gorillas, died on May 6, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born in Kilburn, northwest London, on July 17, 1947, he played in bands from the age of 11. He performed in the Sun Records-influenced Rock and Roll Trio from 1959 to 1961, then in the R&B-influenced Cravattes from 1962 to 1964.

He later reformed the Rock and Roll Trio before starting two more short-lived bands. In 1972, he formed The Gorillas, originally called The Hammersmith Gorillas, a London group known for high-energy rock music.
