Jean-Bernard Pommier, French pianist and conductor, died on April 23, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born in Béziers, France, on August 17, 1944, he began playing the piano at age four and gave his first public concert at seven. He had his first lessons with the Russian-schooled pianist Mina Koslova in Béziers.

At 14, he moved to Paris to study piano with Yves Nat and Pierre Sancan and conducting with Eugene Bigot at the Paris Conservatory. He won the Berlin Young Musicians International Competition in 1960.
