
Gurbux Singh, the Indian field hockey player and 1964 Olympic champion, died on April 24, 2026, at the age of 84, according to reports of a heart attack.
Born in Peshawar in 1942, he was a member of the Indian team that won gold at the 1964 Summer Olympics, bronze at the 1968 Summer Olympics, and gold at the 1966 Asian Games. He served as joint captain of the Indian team at the 1968 Summer Olympics and later coached India at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
