
Jean-Yves Hugon, French politician and deputy from 2002 to 2007, died on April 24, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Aurillac on May 16, 1949, he worked first as a German teacher before entering politics in 2001. That year, he was elected to the municipal council of Châteauroux under mayor Jean-François Mayet.
He was elected to the National Assembly in 2002, representing Indre’s 1st constituency, and served on the National Defence and Armed Forces Committee. After losing his seat in 2007, he went on to hold local office in Châteauroux, including deputy mayor roles from 2008 to 2020.
