Graciela Taquini, the Argentine artist, curator and teacher whose work helped shape the country’s video-art scene, died on September 19, 2026, aged 85.
Born in Buenos Aires on July 1, 1941, she developed much of her artistic output in single-channel experimental video and was widely associated with the early growth of the medium in Argentina. Taquini studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Buenos Aires, where she earned degrees in art history and later worked as an assistant in the chair of Medieval Art.
She also taught and curated, and was part of the National Academy of Fine Arts. Her work received several distinctions, including recognition from the Association of Art Critics of Argentina, the Videobrasil festival and the Konex Prize.
