Frid Ingulstad, a Norwegian novelist, died on May 9, 2026, at the age of 90.
She wrote primarily historical novels, many of them in series, and published more than 200 books. Born in Oslo on 4 September 1935, Ingulstad worked for Fred.
Olsen Airtransport as a stenographer and then as a flight attendant, and later on the Norwegian America Line ship Idefjord as a radio telegrapher before becoming a full-time writer in 1990. Her first book, “Hva livet gir deg, Camilla,” was published in 1965. She was best known for the series Sønnavind, set among factory workers along the Akerselva, as well as Kongsdøtrene, Ildkorset and Ingebjørg.
