Dante Ang public figure dies

Dante Ang

Dante Arevalo Ang Sr., Filipino journalist and chairman emeritus and owner of The Manila Times, died on May 5, 2026.

Born on June 27, 1942, Ang bought The Manila Times in 2001 from Mark Jimenez and was later appointed chairman emeritus by the family board. From 1993 to 2003, he worked as a publicist for President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

In December 2005, he was appointed chair of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and served until June 30, 2010. President Rodrigo Duterte named him special envoy for international public relations on May 3, 2017. His son, Dante “Klink” Ang II, served as chairman and chief executive officer of The Manila Times until his 2024 appointment as chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
