Bob Farmer, the Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League, died on June 12, 2026, aged 79.
Born Robert Boyd Farmer on June 2, 1947, he made his senior VFL debut for Collingwood in 1964 at just 16 years and 363 days old, lining up as a centre half forward. Over six seasons with the club, he found it difficult to secure a regular place in a side that reached the finals five times, but he produced a strong 1968 campaign with 22 goals and was selected for Australia’s Galahs World Tour that year.
His final league appearance came in the 1969 preliminary final loss to Richmond at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, in which he kicked two goals, before he moved to South Australian National Football League club West Adelaide.
