Bill Posey, an American politician and member of the U.S.
House of Representatives from 2009 to 2025, died on May 9, 2026, at age 78. A Republican, he represented Florida’s 8th congressional district after previously serving in the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives.
Born William Joseph Posey in Washington, D.C., he moved to Florida in 1956. He later worked in business and public service, including time on the Rockledge Planning Commission and the City Council, and he did not seek reelection to the U.S. House in 2024.
