Barry Wilburn American football player (Washington Commanders dead at age 62

Barry Wilburn, an American football player who played cornerback in the NFL and CFL, died on February 6, 2026.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 9, 1963, he played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the eighth round of the 1985 NFL draft. Wilburn played eight NFL seasons from 1985 to 1996, missing two seasons because of injury, and also spent two CFL seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the British Columbia Lions.

He finished his career in 1999 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
