
Anna Benaki-Psarouda, a Greek lawyer, politician and academician, died on February 15, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born in Exarcheia, Athens, on December 12, 1934, she obtained a PhD from the University of Bonn, joined the Athens Bar Association and taught law. She entered politics in 1981 and, in 1985, served as New Democracy’s rapporteur on proposed constitutional amendments by Andreas Papandreou.
In the 1990s, she became culture minister and later minister of justice. She was elected to the Academy of Athens in 2010 and served as its vice-president in 2019 and president in 2020.
