Peter Tasiri, a Ghanaian soldier and politician, died on February 15, 2026, aged 95.
He was a member of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), which ruled Ghana for a few months in 1979. At the time of the 4 June 1979 coup, he was with the Fifth Infantry Battalion and later became a member of the government.
He was reported to have been one of the key people who initiated the action that overthrew the Supreme Military Council led by Lt. General Fred Akuffo. Tasiri was also a member of the Free Africa Movement led by Major Boakye-Djan.
