Alevtina Yelesina, a Russian cross-country skier and Paralympic champion, died on March 19, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born on August 22, 1954, in Aleksandrovskoye in the Mozhginsky District of the Udmurt ASSR, she competed at the 1992 and 1994 Winter Paralympics. She won gold and silver medals in cross-country skiing in 1992, and at the 1994 Winter Paralympics she added two silver medals, a gold medal and a bronze medal.
Yelesina was awarded the Order “For Personal Courage” by President Boris Yeltsin in 1994.
