Vannicola, an American electrical engineer, died on March 19, 2026. Born Vincent Christopher Vannicola in New Haven, Connecticut, on September 8, 1932, he graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1951 and earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Connecticut in 1956.
He later received a master’s degree in electromagnetics from Syracuse University in 1968 and a PhD in signal processing engineering. Vannicola worked as an engineer at General Electric in Utica, New York, and later served as a signal processing engineer for the Air Force Research Laboratory until 1996. That year, he was named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for technical contributions to radar signal processing theory and practice.
