Melli Irani, an Indian cinematographer, died on March 19, 2026, in Chennai at the age of 93.
He worked predominantly in the Malayalam film industry and was known for films including Sathyabhama, Line Bus and Ente Mohangal Poovaninju. Born in Bombay on August 5, 1932, Irani learned cinematography from his father, Aadhi M.
Irani, and became an independent cinematographer in 1962 with the Malayalam film Gnanasundari. He received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Cinematography in 1971 and the Kerala Film Critics Association Award for Best Cinematographer in 1984 for Vellam.
