Abdul Ballout, a Lebanese–German murder suspect in the 2026 Berlin Pride attack, died on July 26, 2026, at age 21 after being shot by police during an attempted arrest.
On the evening of July 25, he drove a van into pedestrians at Berlin Christopher Street Day in the Tiergarten district of central Berlin, killing one woman and injuring 29 other people, several critically. Ballout fled on foot, prompting a large-scale manhunt, and the pride event was called off shortly after the attack.
Two months earlier, he had been convicted of planning an attack and received a suspended sentence from a juvenile court. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said the assault was suspected to be an Islamist terrorist attack.
