Takamaro Shigaraki, a Japanese Buddhist philosopher, died on September 26, 2014, at age 87.

Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1926, he studied at Ryukoku University and went on to spend much of his career there as a philosopher, university teacher, writer and Buddhologist. He was also associated with the Honganji-ha branch of Jōdo Shinshū, and was regarded as one of the leading scholars of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism in the 20th century.

Shigaraki died in Kure.
