Silvano Raia, a Brazilian liver surgeon, died on April 28, 2026, at the age of 95.
He specialized in liver diseases and was professor emeritus at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP). In July 1989, Raia became the first doctor to achieve a successful living donor liver transplantation.
