Born in Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, in 1966, he moved with his family to Salvador after his father died in the mid-1970s. His mother gave him his first guitar when he was 14, and he began performing professionally in local bars at 16 while studying civil engineering at the Catholic University of Salvador.

He initially played Brazilian popular music and bossa nova before turning toward Carnival. In 1988, he joined Banda Beijo as its vocalist, launching a career that included both group work and solo performances. The band’s single “Beijo na Boca” became its first major hit that year, and the group appeared on the eighth episode of Rede Globo’s new program Domingão do Faustão. In 1990, Banda Beijo toured Italy in an electric trio during the FIFA World Cup. Netinho’s work was associated with axé music and samba-reggae; he performed as a singer and played classical guitar and guitar. His career began in 1988 and continued through 2026.
