Sékou Ouédraogo, a Burkinabé cinematographer, died on February 20, 2026, at the age of 88–89.
Born in 1937, he was considered one of Burkina Faso’s first cinematographers and began his career in the 1960s, when the local film industry was limited. He was also part of the generation of technicians that helped develop the country’s audiovisual sector.
In 1969, he took part in organizing the first Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou. In 1985, he helped produce the film Jours de Tourmentes.
