Born Scott Edward Brown on August 30, 1956, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, he attended DeQuincy High School before beginning his professional career. The Reds selected him in the fourth round of the 1975 amateur draft, and he went on to spend one season in the major leagues with Cincinnati.
Brown also worked his way through the minor leagues, opening his professional career with the Billings Mustangs in 1975 and finishing with the Omaha Royals, Kansas City’s Triple-A affiliate, in 1983.
