Pieak Poster, the stage name of Thai filmmaker, film poster artist and actor Somboonsuk Niyomsiri, died on September 24, 2026, aged 93.
Born Somboonsuk Niyomsiri, he became one of Thailand’s best-known film poster artists, beginning that work in 1953 and going on to create posters for more than 1,000 Thai and foreign films. He later moved into directing and acting, and his films included Tone (1970) and Duang (1971), the latter marking Pairoj Jaisingha’s acting debut.
In 2015, he was named a National Artist in the Performing Arts category.
