Paul Conroy, a British photojournalist and freelance photographer and filmmaker, died on February 28, 2026, aged 61.
He worked in the British media and reported from combat zones in the Balkans, the Middle East and Libya. A soldier with the Royal Artillery from 1980 to 1987, he was shortlisted in 2011 for the PRX Bayeux TV report with Marie Colvin.
Born in Liverpool on 18 July 1964, Conroy was injured in 2012 while covering the Syrian uprising in Homs, when the building where he and other journalists were based was shelled.
