Patricia Schady British astrophysicist dead at age 47

Patricia Schady, a British astrophysicist, died on February 28, 2026.

She specialized in gamma-ray bursts and their host galaxies and was a senior lecturer at the University of Bath at the time of her death. Schady was born in the United Kingdom in 1978.

She studied mathematics and computer science at University College London, radio astronomy at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, and astrophysics at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, where she completed a PhD. Before joining the University of Bath, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, near Munich.

Patricia Schady (1978 – 1 March 2026) was a British astrophysicist specializing in gamma-ray bursts and their host galaxies. At the time of her death, she was a senior lecturer at the University of Bath.
