Michel Imbert French neuropsychologist dead at age 90

Michel Imbert, a French neuropsychologist and teacher-researcher in cognitive neurosciences, died on February 19, 2026.

Born in Béziers on June 29, 1935, he was professor emeritus at Pierre-et-Marie-Curie University from 2003 and honorary director of studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales. After studies at the Sorbonne and the Faculty of Sciences in Paris, he taught at the Faculty of Sciences in Toulouse and later worked at the Collège de France.

He was also a senior member of the Institut universitaire de France and an honorary member of the Perceptive Systems Laboratory at the École normale supérieure.

Michel Imbert (29 June 1935 – 19 February 2026) was a French neuropsychologist teacher-researcher in cognitive neurosciences, professor emeritus at Pierre-et-Marie-Curie University (from 2003) and honorary director of studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS).
