Kamal Rana, a Nepalese politician and member of the Maha Sabha from 1959 to 1960, died on February 19, 2026.
She was appointed to the Maha Sabha in 1959, becoming its first female member. Rana and Dwarika Devi Thakurani, who was elected to the House of Representatives, were the first women in the Nepalese parliament.
Born in Tansen in 1928, Rana was associated with the royal family and later married Meen Shumsher J.B. Rana, an army general.
