Loredana Simonetti Italian athlete dead at age 95

Loredana Simonetti, the Italian middle-distance runner who won nine national championships at the senior level between 1949 and 1954, died on February 26, 2026, at the age of 95.

She was a multiple national champion in the 800 meters and in cross-country running and competed at the European Championships in Bern in 1954. Simonetti was born in Trieste in 1930.

Loredana Simonetti (28 August 1930 – 26 February 2026) was an Italian middle-distance runner. She won nine national championships at individual senior level from 1949 to 1954 in two different specialities.
