Konrad Beikircher, the German cabaret artist, musician and author, died on July 28, 2026, aged 80.
Born Konrad Johann Aloysia Beikircher in Bruneck, South Tyrol, he built a career that combined stage programmes, books and recordings, often drawing on the character, mentality and regional dialect of the Rhineland. After studying psychology, musicology and philosophy at the University of Bonn and working for years as a prison psychologist at Siegburg Prison, he turned to cabaret full time in 1986.
His work also included writing and music, and he was recognized with honours including the Order of Merit of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
