Ken Weetch, the British Labour Party politician who served as a Member of Parliament from 1974 to 1987, died on February 5, 2026, aged 92.
Born Kenneth Thomas Weetch in Abercarn, Wales, on 17 September 1933, he was educated at Newbridge Grammar School in Caerphilly and later at the London School of Economics. After qualifying as a teacher, he worked in education, including as a history teacher at Mayfield Boys School in Goodmayes, Essex.
He unsuccessfully contested Saffron Walden in the 1970 general election before winning Ipswich at the October 1974 general election, holding the seat until losing it in 1987.
Kenneth Thomas Weetch (17 September 1933 – 5 February 2026) was a British Labour Party politician. He was a Member of Parliament from 1974 to 1987.
