Jaysinghrao Pawar, an Indian historian, died on March 25, 2026.
He was an authority on Maratha and Kolhapur history and worked for more than three decades as a professor. Born on December 30, 1941, in Tadsargaon village in Pune district, Maharashtra, he studied in Hadsar before moving to Kolhapur for higher education.
He completed his doctorate under Appasaheb Pawar in 1964 at Shivaji University. Pawar wrote more than 25 historical books and over 45 research papers, including works on the Marathas, Tarabai and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj.
