Ismael Kanater, a Moroccan actor, died on February 20, 2026.
Born Ismaïl Abou El Kanater in Casablanca in 1956 or 1957, he trained at the Conservatory in Casablanca and began his artistic career in theatre. He studied alongside Aziz Saadallah, Khadija Asad and others, and performed in plays including “The Ghoul” and “Our Right to Land.” In the early 1970s, he helped found the Pocket Theater troupe and toured Algeria with fellow Conservatoire students.
He later participated in Moroccan and foreign films and television series, including “Queen of the Desert.”
