Hassie van Wijk, the Dutch footballer, assistant manager and manager, died on July 29, 2026, aged 87.
A midfielder, he began his career with De Volewijckers and helped the club win promotion to the Eredivisie before moving to ADO Den Haag in the summer of 1963 after relegation. He made 30 appearances for ADO and later spent three seasons each with Telstar and AZ ’67 before retiring.
Van Wijk also made two appearances for the Netherlands under-21 team and later worked as an assistant manager at Ajax.
