Green Vigo South African rugby footballer dead at age 75

Green Vigo, the South African rugby footballer who played for Wigan Warriors, died on February 14, 2026, aged 75.

Born in Saldanha Bay, Cape Province, South Africa, in 1950, Green Gregory Vigo played rugby union in the 1970s and 1980s before switching to rugby league. He represented Proteas in rugby union and played club rugby union for Saldanha Tigers as a centre.

In rugby league, he represented Other Nationalities and played at club level for Wigan, Swinton and Oldham as a wing. He made 168 first-team appearances for Wigan, scoring 86 tries, before joining Swinton in 1980 and later Oldham.

Green Gregory Vigo (21 April 1950 – 14 February 2026) was a South African rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Proteas, and at club level for Saldanha Tigers, as a centre, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Other Nationalities, and at club level for Wigan, Swinton and Oldham, as a wing.
