Ray Webster, the New Zealand-born British businessman who served as chief executive of easyJet from 1996 to 2005, died on February 14, 2026, aged 79.
Born Raymond Douglas Webster in Greymouth, New Zealand, on 9 July 1946, he was the first managing director and later the first chief executive of the low-cost airline. He began his career in aviation with New Zealand National Airways Corporation in 1965, later studied at the University of Canterbury and Cranfield Institute of Technology, and went on to hold senior roles in the airline industry.
