Gisela Engeln-Müllges, a German mathematician and professor of numerical mathematics at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, died on February 4, 2026.

Born in Leipzig in 1940, she studied mathematics at RWTH Aachen University beginning in 1961 after escaping to West Germany in 1961. She completed her doctorate in 1971 and joined the Aachen University of Applied Sciences as a professor in 1982.

From 1992 to 2005, she served there as vice rector for research, development, and technology. With Frank Uhlig, she coauthored books on numerical algorithms in C and Fortran.

Gisela Engeln-Müllges (1940 – 31 January 2026) was a German mathematician and artist. She was a professor of numerical mathematics at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, where she also was a vice rector for research, development, and technology.
