Germán Vargas Lleras, Colombian politician and vice-president of Colombia from 2014 to 2017, died on May 8, 2026, at the age of 64.
He served under President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón and was a member of the Radical Change political party. Elected to the Senate in 1994, he served four consecutive terms and also held cabinet posts as minister of interior.
Born in Bogotá on February 19, 1962, he studied law at the Universidad del Rosario and later government and political science in Madrid.
