Gary McCracken, a Canadian musician and drummer, died on September 17, 2026, aged 75.
He was best known as the drummer for Max Webster from 1976 until the band dissolved in 1981, playing on four studio albums and sharing credit as co-writer and lead vocalist on the group’s 1979 hit single “A Million Vacations.” McCracken also worked with Rush and Neil Peart on “Battle Scar” in 1980, and later played with bands including Triumph, Wrabit and Klaatu. In 2000, he released a solo album, Audioscapes.
He had attended Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School and later taught music in his hometown of Sarnia, Ontario.
