He established one of the country’s first two-dimensional echocardiography laboratories, and later founded and served as vice-chairman of KIMS Healthcare in Thiruvananthapuram. Vijayaraghavan also led the Society for Continuing Medical Education and Research, Kerala, and in 2009 received the Padma Shri from the Government of India for his contributions to medical sciences.
