Dominic Su Haw Chiu, a Malaysian Roman Catholic prelate and bishop of Sibu from 1987 to 2011, died on May 15, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Sibu, Sarawak, on May 29, 1939, he studied at St Francis Xavier’s Minor Seminary in Singapore from 1961 to 1963 and at College General in Penang from 1964 to 1969. He was ordained a deacon on April 28, 1969, and to the priesthood on December 4, 1969, by Bishop Charles Reiterer.
He later studied canon law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome from 1979 to 1981.
